Re: What is the Co-op known as where you are?

Until very recently, Sheffield had 3 or 4 department stores, with Sheffield Co-operative Society (SCS) competing directly against United Co-op who traded as Sunwin. Sheffield Co-op was merged into United Co-op in 2006 (with the promise of 0 SCS job losses) who then merged with the national Co-op (w...

Re: What is the Co-op known as where you are?

I can't remember where I was at the time, it may have been Derby, but I'm surprised that some places still have Co-Op Department stores. All the ones in Yorkshire were closed down years ago I believe. The one in Nottingham was sold and split up into offices, a bar and a Chinese restaurant a few yea...

Re: Why there is no such thing as a 24 Hour Tesco Store

I loved working at The Entertainer, it was owned by some manic Christian who believed he and all his staff would go to hell if he opened on Sunday. What a div. But it did make things a lot better for staff, especially at this time of year when other similar shops expect 7 day weeks from their staff....

Re: Sky Plus Options

I thought that TiVo were redoing the software for all V+ boxes, new and old? Seeing as they've only just released a new box (quite a big thing when you consider the amount of red tape Virgin seem to have to cut before bringing a new product on-line), it'd be strange for these to become obsolete so q...

Re: Sky Plus Options

I think this was rumoured when the V+ box (or telewest tv drive as it was then) first came out but nothing appeared to come of it. Despite all Virgin's flaws they do seem to try and introduce new features to the boxes despite the limitations of liberate itself. Searchable music videos was nice for ...

Re: Yet more work

Sheffield Hallam moved from cacky FirstClass to lovely lovely GMail this summer - no settings transferred and importing emails over was tricky, but now it's done it is a LOT better.

Re: Do you have ID?

I have to do it all the time, and I hate it. It's completely outrageous that an Off-License is bothering its customers over WHO is going to consume the alcohol! Ultimately, you can't really stop it happening, just make sure anybody without sufficient ID doesn't come into the view of the staff who wi...

Re: Tesco Image Thread (and other supermarkets)

And while we're talking about these things, why do the Sainsbury's till drawers still pop open after a card transaction? This used to be needed so the staff member could put in the store copy of the signed receipt, but since Chip-and-PIN was introduced this is no longer required. M&S stopped th...
