Basically from sometime soon all BBC Local Radio stations will drop the Radio name basically to show that they're more than Radio, ie having a strong online presence. Doesn't make much difference for the Car Radio displays, when scanning I still get BBC Manc, BBC Mrsy, BBC Shef, BBC Stke and BBCymru anyway.

Makes sense, plus all stations will get new logos.

Can't see the public noticing the difference really, as they'll still call it BBC Radio Solent or whatever.

But how will we know we're listening to the radio?!

I think the point which has been missed here is that this change only applies to off air branding. On air, the stations will continue with the word Radio. So essentially each station will have two names. How unbelievably absurd, and what better way to weaken a brand?

It seems even more unbelievable when you consider that the recent rebrand of the national services has included a consistent 'BBC RADIO' element to each logo, which has even resulted in BBC 7 changing its name to BBC Radio 7.

Are the Chuckle Brothers in charge?

We pay good money for the left wing-liberal BBC to broadcast their NuLabour nonsense and for managers to spend our licence payers money on pointless name changes and Jonathan Ross.

Time to scrap the licence fee, let them sink in the real world like any other company and see how they hack it. I do not see how I should continue to pay the TV-TAX when I do not even watch television except for Doctor Who.

Oh so close! You forgot "Broon" and his pinko conspiracy to eradicate Britain of hardworking honest middle class people.

Well that wasn't the intention - just an expression of disbelief that someone came up with such a moronic idea.

I know, I've been reading the daily mail's idiot commenters for too long and that's one of the phrases they use.
