I came across the above software. Very handy as I could do with a bit of additional disk space without buying an external hard drive.
But before I go ahead and do this, I thought I'd ask Metropollers as some members are more versed in things like this than I am.
Gmail Drive
there are some versions of this type of software that split larger files into 10mb chunks and attach them to other addresses. and you can buy a 1tb drive for peanuts these days - i don't think i'd ever use some sort of online 'vault' service to keep backups of my vital files - for a start you never know who might have access to them (or who the company may give access to), or how good the security is.

Most people in my family have Apples, and have an external hardrive for Timemachine. Oddly though they constanstly leave it plugged in, even when going away, so chances are if we are broken in to, their back-up will vamoose as well.
