I joined TVF in November 2001 as 'stegranadaitv1', forgive me I was only 14! But then became nwtv when the Forum broke down in Easter '02 and then again over that Christmas, and then became nwtv2003. I'd been visiting TV Home from 2000 or so, I did browse the Forum from time to time, and then joined up for the sake of it.
Didn't join Metropol straight away, probably not until 2004 I think, again to protect my username more than anything....
Why and when did you join?

I originally joined TVF for the technical discussion leading up to ITV going on the Astra satellite in November 2001. Then I just stayed on to make constructive comments about how the forum was run; and to make up nice, new words like 'sadministrator' and 'soderator'. Then I came to realise how much Asa hated me staying, so I stayed even longer. I'm still there.
Somebody called Maurice Myner joined Metropol a couple of days after it opened, because Nick Harvey wouldn't be seen dead in a place like this. I think it was March 2005 when Nick finally and officially joined Metropol.

I must have joined TVF fairly early in its existence. At the time it seemed a bit friendlier and less technical than the MHP-Chat list. I don't seem to post much to either anymore, largely because TV has gone down the pan so much in the last few years that I can't be bothered. In fact as far as MHP-Chat goes, it seems the only times I delurk are in response to the occasional "Whatever happened to Jenny Turner?" posts, when I pop up to assure them that rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.
But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Well now I remember noting the last time this came up that we joined around the same time -- also the week the new 2 idents started. That first menu with the fish simply compelled me to join tvf, after just looking at tv home now and again before. A dial up connection, still being in education, being in a different country and regional ITV -- all in the same reminiscence.Nick Harvey wrote:I originally joined TVF for the technical discussion leading up to ITV going on the Astra satellite in November 2001. Mind you, despite this being the first time I've posted here in nearly 3 years, I visit here far more often than tvf now -- there are occasions when I log on and there is not one topic that intrigues me [sadly]. Bring back Peanut!
^ And ooo look there's Jenny.
I vaguely remember discovering that other people actually cared about TV pres and found The TV Room in 2001/2002 sometime. That was an amazing night that.
I can't remember for the life of me how I found TV Forum. I seem to remember finding an ITV forum on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and getting hooked.
Did The TV Room have a links page to TV Home or something?

Oh, and the whole point of the thread - Metropol.
I remember making an account when it launched but for some reason the confirmation email didn't come through. Unfortunately, I couldn't be bothered contacting Martin to get it fixed so it stuck until I finally decided to make a new one.
That was interesting.
