At the end of this bag of spuds, you'll never see a bag of chips the same way again.

I will probably never want to see another spud again after this hi carb diet. The peeps i bought spuds from supply my local chippy. I bet i can cook chips better than them, on a good old fashioned gas hob top chip frier in lard. The proper old fashioned way.

I'll never get through the full sack so those that at the bottom that start to sprout i'll plant in my garden for next years own grown crop.

This evening I shall be visiting the Old House at Home in Overton (yep, another boozer) which is under new management, and will probably be having something pasta based.

Huss and chips. I just love eating fish and chips from the paper beside the sea. With lashings of salt and vinegar and a can of Irn bru to wash them down with. Won't be out for long though, its rather chilly for the summer solstice.

saturday night me and the other half went to another curry house in a town about 15 miles from here for something different. absolutely wonderful food, i had a madras with tika to start. the bombay potatoes were the best i think i've had ever. the only way i can describe them is that they just crumbled as soon as you put them in your mouth, the flavour was just all the way though... really lovely.

just think about what we can have for tonight.... fancy somehting spicy... any ideas?

on a site note, has anybody noticed just how much people have stopped eating out?

i've been out a couple of times this month already, and normally the places we go are quite popular so you have to book as they get pretty full by 8-9ish, but in the last, maybe two months, some places have been nearly empty on a friday / saturday night. i just hope the smaller restaurants in the town can survive.... as nice as a pizza express is on occasion, it wouldn't want it to be my only choice.

Oh the pubs and restaraunts round here are relatively empty. Good for me as a punter but not so good for the publicans.

I'm gonna do a homemade bolognaise for tonight. I made the sauce yesterday.

Felt peckish so I'm having a 2nd bowl of coco pops. In the bin downstairs is the remnants of the first attempt. I pulled a generic red box of liquid from the fridge, thinking it to be milk. Sadly not, it was my vegan mother's soya milk replacement. I nearly threw up. Sainsbury's Soya packaging used to be bright yellow and blue to distinguish it from the boxed milk. Now it's red, same colour as skimmed UHT boxed milk. To my midnight-eyes, I couldn't distinguish.

Skimmed milk? Bleurch.

Did you know that full fat milk is only 4% fat? Semi-skimmed is 2%. Seems to me one would have to consume a lot for that to make a significant difference, health wise, so I stick with full fat milk for my coffee and occasional weetabix. Makes it taste so much nicer.

Tonight I'm having grilled pork and mixed pepper kebabs with a side of chicken and mushroom pasta 'n' sauce. Quick and easy - very tasty.

I thought about commenting on the milk, but it was more to do with choosing to drink UHT. Never understood why anybody would choose to drink bulls milk!

Just reminds me of that great quote from the Milkman in the Speed 3 episode of Father Ted..

"..there's UHT, but there's no demand for that, as it's shite"

We're a semi-skimmed household, but I like full fat, but skimmed is horrible, even when you put in tea or any other drink.
