Well I don't see free speech exactly winning the day.
There are understood exceptions to what people term as "free speech", and they are as true here as they are in every walk of life this country.

Those are:

Incitement to Imminent Lawless Action

Threats

Fraudulent Misrepresentation / Invasion of Privacy

Discriminatory Harrassment

There are many more, but "kill 'em all" as a sentiment ticks two of those boxes to start with. To make it easier than referring to textbooks I'm settling for 2 out of 5 on your scorecard for unnacceptable behavior.

Now you may have expressed your statments as a joke, but clearly the joke is born from discriminatory and hateful sensibilities. I know you didn't come up with the material - it's been around for many years; but you play your part in perpetuating it.

Slinging one-liners and playing the victim won't wash with me. You're not hard-done by, James.

JM, it strikes me that you are going through some "issues" at the moment.

Moan about censorship/nanny-statism all you want, but 99.99999% of all posts on MP247 are completely untouched, as have most if not all of yours in this thread.

Bear in mind, this is the Internet. You're not going to get some crappy "Up With The Partridge" DJ job on MOR FM if you're leaving digital fingerprints of your idiocy online.

Moving on . . .

. . . How did the ⇐ left arrow greet his inverse?

Are you all right?

Why do people say “Quad bike” and “Double prime”—it is like saying a “three-sided square”, oh wait they do, “Tri-square”?!

You see the problem is, by endlessly given JM "final warnings", you make him aware that he simply can't be banned and that he can continue to make as he calls it "near the knuckle" jokes despite your saying you won't stand for it. This, clearly, will lead to him not taking threats of banning seriously, and in some ways it scores JM a victory against the moderation who he resents for some reason (he has been able to spend the last page of this thread having a moral argument about something which clearly shouldn't be debatable in the first place, not least because he should already be gone). By being allowed to argue and continue to assert the moral right to make such jokes, he has successfully defied the judgment of the moderation and the views of the rest of the forum - and has managed to do so while continuing to be a member.

Obviously it's too late to backpedal now, but when you make threats, it is a good idea to carry through with them, because not to do so reduces your credibility for this kind of thing in the future.

JM read your post saying you'd ban him for good if he made another joke, and made not one but three more jokes of the same style, guessing that you wouldn't ban him even though you said you would (and to some extent, sort of 'testing' you). He guessed correctly.

A family are driving behind a dustcart when a dildo flies out and hits their windscreen. Embarassed and to protect her young sons innocence, the woman says it was an insect, to which one of the boys replies " i'm surprised it can fly with a cock like that!"
