my villege, hidden deep within the north-west norfolk country side is very quiet. nothing much happens here. we have a primary school, pub, post office, church and village hall. there are probably around 100 or so houses here and there are a number of events that go on throughout the year, such as bingo, bowling, and recently, the summer fete, which i missed because i was on holiday.

i live about 7 miles from a major town, and about 40 miles from a city (norwich and cambridge) so you don't have to drive far if you need a bit of shopping or for a good nite out.

i'm torn between town and village life though, i love my piece and quiet, and not being woke up early on a sunday by next door drilling, but on the other hand, living in town, easier to get to work, easier for nights out, etc etc

Villages are fantastic. Their pubs are always the best part of it.

The looks I get when I cycle across my treasured Midland land and stop in at a local village pub. Then again, I get those kind of looks in my own pub.

I live in a horrible little village in Cheshire on the Wirral/Wales border. It has a main trunk road running through centre of it. It has six of everything except anything you actually need. The closest thing we have to a village green is a grassy verge on the pavement. It's a very industrial looking town, yet the adjoining village is lovely.

Don't go to Ellsmere Port

Well the 'village' where I live is rather a big one, mainly as it's been swallowed up by the neigbouring town of Altrincham. Rather drab and boring place, all we have is the share of the Altricham festival, which ends in Timperley. Don't think theres a green in it.

Although I was in the Village of Osmotherly, near Thirsk at the weekend, who were holdiong their village fair, I think it's the nun pilgramidge (yes I know I can't spell) this weekend, but unfortunately I've commited myself to something else so will have to miss that.

The village I used to live in in Bradford, the "lovely" village of Idle, I remember we used to have a fair come to Idle Wreck once a year with chances to win goldfish and they had waltsers (tsk @ my spelling, you know the things, go around and around), about the highlight of the year.

My mums village up in cumbria, Allerby was so small that nothing ever really happens, can't even manage a bus stop, though there are some swings on the village green.

Although I live in a town, the Village I went to primary school with, and have a strong affinity with, had it's annual pig roast a few weeks back.

Delicious.
