Looking forward to the new jingle:

🎶 Fewer reasons to shop at Morrisons 🎶

Seriously though, the fish and hot food counters are/were the main reason I'll occasionally take a trip to a Morrisons. Seems nobody wants to sell me a hot rotisserie chicken any more.

it's only a matter of time before they close all their counters as Sainsubry's and Tesco have..

Which rotisseries are closing? I can only see Market Kitchens, which are a different thing. In fact Netherfield lost its rotisserie counter to get a Market Kitchen. No whole hot chickens since.

Ah, my apologies. I thought Market Kitchen was another name for the hot food counter. The changes are perhaps less sweeping than I initially thought. Good.

The hot food counter in my local store has just closed, replaced by a heated cabinet. I'd like to think that means you might be able to get served at the deli counter in less than 10 minutes since it's one less counter for a single member of staff to manage, but I wouldn't be surprised if they shut that too instead.

I can’t get my head around the need to go to a counter for something that’s available on shelves elsewhere.

The cooked meat from the deli counter is (generally) cheaper, and (generally) nicer for not having been sweating in plastic packaging for however long, and you can buy as much or as little of it as you need, cut as thinly or thickly as you like it. Plus, you can see it before you buy it, instead of getting home and realising there's a nasty gristly bit that was obscured by a sticker. And it only uses a couple of thin plastic sheets (which you can reuse to wrap other things) and a paper bag, instead of a plastic tray with a film lid that's hard to recycle.
