I generally love most of the "classic" Christmas songs and so picking a favourite or top five is pretty hard, but after much deliberations here are mine:
1 wizzard - I wish it would be Christmas everyday.
2 Chris rea - Driving home for Christmas
3 Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
4 Wham - Last Christmas
5 Paul McCartney - Pipes of piece
6 Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime
There are so many others, I know I missed fairytale of new york love that too but it dies get perhaps the most airplay.
What are yours?
Your favourite Christmas tunes?

My own personal favourites are
Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas
Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas (awesome guitar playing)
Pogues - Fairytale of NY
Shakin Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
Mike Oldfield - In Dulce Jubilo
Aled Jones - Walking In The Air
Incidentally, I did a radio show on Christmas Day a couple of years ago called "The December 25" which was my then choice of the all time best Xmas songs with a few guilty pleasures thrown in for good measure - the tracklisting was as follows:
(Intro : "It's Christmas All Over The World Tonight" by Sheena Easton from Santa Claus The Movie)
25: Geraldine McQueen - Once Upon A Christmas Song
24: Chris DeBurgh - A Spaceman Came Travelling
23: Eartha Kitt - Santa Baby
(Interlude 1: The Smurfs - Christmas With The Smurfs)
22: Jim Reeves - Silver Bells
21: Dean Martin - Let It Snow
20: Brenda Lee - Rockin Around The Christmas Tree
19: Andy Williams - Happy Holidays
18: Mike Oldfield - In Dulce Jubilo
(Interlude 2: Frank Kelly - Christmas Countdown)
17: Jonah Lewie - Stop The Cavalry
16: Cliff Richard - Mistletoe & Wine
15: Jackson 5 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
14: Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas
13: Mud - Lonely This Christmas
12: Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas
11: Cliff Richard - Saviours' Day
10: Nat King Cole - The Christmas Song
09: Elton John - Step Into Christmas
08: Aled Jones / Peter Auty - Walking In The Air
07: Wham! - Last Christmas
06: Bing Crosby - White Christmas
(Interlude 3: Ricky Tomlinson - Christmas my Arse!)
05: Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day
04: Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody
03: Shakin Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone
02: Pogues & Kirsty McColl - Fairytale of New York
01: Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas
(Outtro - Bing & Bowie - Little Drummer Boy)
After I'd completed it all, recorded it, encoded it, uploaded it and booked my airtime slot, I realised to my horror I'd forgotten completely about Paul McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime, which would probably be around about number 5 or 6.
Little piece of trivia - Paul McCartney has had the most Xmas number ones with 7 as either a part of the Beatles, Wings or Band Aid. It could be 8 if the Justice Collective get to number 1 on Sunday, which would also give Shane MacGowan his first Xmas #1 ironically, and Mel C her 4th. Whereas Cliff who seems synonymous with Christmas has had only 4 with the Shadows, on his own twice and with Band Aid II.

This. Although it's not *really* a Christmas song
Indeed, it's a common misconception that Fairytale of New York was a Christmas Number 1, when it was actually pipped to the post by Always On My Mind by the Pet Shop Boys. I remember once watching an interview with the late Kirsty MacColl who was really gutted about that fact.Alexia wrote:which would also give Shane MacGowan his first Xmas #1 ironically
And the fact Shane MacGowan's birthday is....
