Hi folks,

Who is doing better at the debates?

For me, it was obviously Darling. Salmond and his stupid talk about aliens and which side of the road to drive on was pathetic

What are your thoughts?

I don't plan to watch any of the debates. If Scotland's powers that be refuse to solicit the opinions of anyone else outside of Scotland, why should I waste my time.

It feels like a selfish decision, which may or may not be made based on a dislike of the Conservatives (which I also dislike) undoing hundreds of years of union.

I understand they are within their rights to make this choice, but I can't help how I feel about it. I speak as someone with half of my family coming from Scotland.

Its not Scotland that stopping a ref its Westminster government, who could have held a pole, but don't want to.

Of course it based on dislike of the conservatives, even sir Alex said Mrs Thatchers is good enough reason for leaving, Then we had poll tax, there more panda than tories mp etc.. EVEN the YES campaigns on the streets are making this point, no more Tories.

I would love to know why its taken this long for darling to get a bit of passion back in this debate? I do and many other agree aswell he won that debate hands down, Alex lost the plot with some of the crap he come out with. Maybe his second in command should have done it ;)

Overall, the debate was meh, no answers to most things, and I'm still clueless.

I honestly had expected Salmond to do far better given that he has a personality whereas Darling has, eyebrows.

Oh and what was that audience member demanding more money for Gaelic and less talk about pensions? Moron.

The only person that stood out for me during the whole thing was Bernard Posonby even though Alastair Darling was the clear winner of the debate. Salmond's blind refusal though to answer the question on currency riled me up big style. When the country votes no, I hope Alex Salmond takes it to heart and does the decent thing and resigns as leader of the SNP and/or FM...

I liked the woman who had a rare opprtunity to speak to a leader of one of the campaigns, and decided to ask Alistair Darling if he had a Scottish address. Which he does. I really want to know what the crackpot conspircy theory behind this question was, or if she had maybe just confused him with someone from UKIP or something.

I think her implication was re: his earlier "I didn't vote for you Mr Salmond" comment, trying to suggest he's actually a London stooge when of course as an MP for Edinburgh he's obviously going to have a Scottish address and actually have voted in elections there.

Idiot.

Why would Scotland want to use the pound? were going to get screwed once the interest rates go up, but if were had our own currency the rate wouldn't be going up as fast.

Ah, thanks Pete. My inability to multi-task meant I missed the "I didn't vote for you" line during the live debate so didn't appreciate she was trying to make something out of that, albeit something boringly weird.

Because extending the Euro to Scotland would be politically toxic both for Scotland joining and the rest of Europe allowing them to, and creating a central bank/currency would be a nightmare - economic instability is an understatement.
