i'm not the sort of person that would really ever consider going to the gym or do anything like that - i think i've mentioned it before, but i love walking and exploring and i go for a random walk in my lunch hour during the week every day if i can and also at the weekends with the kids to give them some exercise - in the week i can do between 3-4 miles depending various things.

i've been recording my walks on endomondo since around august last year and amazingly, i've clocked up just over 1000 miles this week. until i started tracking my walking with endomonodo, i'd never really thought about how quickly or how easy or difficult it is to walk a particular distance, it's amazing actually how quickly you can walk if you want to - i think the most i've walked in a single day is about 9 miles, and i did feel that the next day.

so just wondering, do any of you guys use endomondo? any of you into walking?

i'm not a proper rambler or anything like that though, i just like exploring down hidden tracks and in woods to see what i can find.

I've always meant to try this, as you've mentioned it before, but I've never gotten around to it. I've just downloaded it and plan on using it from this morning... Do you keep it 'on' constantly, so all of your walks are measured, or only when you're just 'rambling' in your free time and the like? And do you have it track it If you're cycling or moving in any other way?

Personally, I don't do a lot of walking for leisure, but if I can get somewhere on foot, I'll likely do that instead of driving or catching the bus, so I suspect I could be walking fair distances. Saying that, I did go for a few nice walks in the Summer last year up towards Sizewell and Aldeburgh.

I only turn it on when I'm going to walk a reasonable distance, it needs GPS to work so I don't just leave it on inside, plus GPS does kill the battery on my phone.

A new feature was added which counts footsteps so I might give it a go indoors tomorrow and see how well it performs.

I use it for tracking cycling as well, although I need a new bike so don't go for a bike ride often, but amazingly cycling doesn't seem to burn any more calories than a brisk walk.... According to endomondo anyway.
