Hello all. It's high time I bought a new telly. My budget has gradually increased from £300 to about £400, which is the realm of the "Smart" LED TV (32 inches. I find anything larger simply vulgar). Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm currently wobbling about between Samsung (UE32D5520), LG (32LV550T) and Toshiba (32rl858b). Does anyone know any of the general fabulousness or tsk-worthiness of these offerings?
I've gotten as far as to establish that they all have iPlayer and Freeview HD but (I THINK) none of them have any other VoD, and none of them are rebadged shoddy televisions.
Smart TV smart-ness
Before you order any of them online, go to a store where you can see one and check the sound quality from the speakers.
This Panasonic is larger than you want, and I don't know what how "smart" it is, but it's an excellent TV for £399. I recommended it for my uncle a few months ago. He got it from John Lewis for £549 inc a 5 year warranty, and even at that price it was good value.

Worth remembering no matter which one you buy, that you do get a 5 year warranty included from John Lewis.

No. I've never, ever known anyone anywhere to have had a plasma "regassed".Sput wrote:Oh I'm expecting shoddy sound quality, but it's next to a hifi and I've never had good sound quality before anyway
And don't you still have to re-gas plasmas after a bit?
We have an LG with all the Freeview HD/Smart TV gubbins (however it is 42 inch) and the sound quality is totally fine - nice remote/UI too.
Personally I'd go into a shop, look at the same/similar model of the LG and Samsung and choose whichever is best.

It's some sort of myth that's been floating about for years. Plasma screens have equivalent, if not a longer, life than LCDs.marksi wrote:No. I've never, ever known anyone anywhere to have had a plasma "regassed".Sput wrote:Oh I'm expecting shoddy sound quality, but it's next to a hifi and I've never had good sound quality before anyway
