Hi All!
As some of you may have noticed, I've spent some time in Alaska recently (as you do, see Bear photos in the Spring thread) and it's opened my eyes to some of the amazing places in the world. Now Alaska is a bit of an extreme but I'm suddenly reminded of all the places that are essentially local that I've never visited. I'm keen to improve my photography skills with a particular emphasis on time-lapse video/photography.
So I plan on going to places that I've never been to try and capture some of the amazing places, people and scenery in the UK. Where would you suggest? What's local to you that you think is impressive, photogenic or just interesting.
I plan on making Scotland one of my first trips so Gavin, I expect some good answers from you, likewise Pete! But if there's something on route that I just can't miss let me know!

Not en route to Scotland, but a photographer's dream, especially in the autumn, is Stourhead, near Mere, Wiltshire. I simply can't get enough of it, though I leave 'er indoors to do the snapping. It's a National Trust site. Have a look at the website.

OH I think this calls for a Metromeet.
You're spoiled for choice in Edinburgh - but I was bound to say that. I'd be very interested in what you capture from here north, or indeed, from here to the south - I'm shockingly parochial and don't venture away too much.

Can only speak for South Wales, but I recently visited The Gower Peninsula properly for the first time and was stunned by its intense mix of farmland, grassland, plains, seaside coves and cliffs. Almost like a mini-Cornwall all in one go.
If you want panorama mixed with TV geek tech, pop up to the top of Mynydd Machen... or for 360 degree shots, Twmbarlwm in Cwmcarn.
For a combined drive/view experience, I recommend the sheep-lined Monaco-esque chicane on the B4560 between Brynmawr and Llangynidr.

That goes without saying, ass.
Scotland is a good place to start, I dare say there is a long list places you can great photos of, including the beaches that look like pardise, or Loch lomand. The views from top of Arthurs seat are also very nice and Glasgow is well know for having nearly every type of buildings in the world, in the city centre. I would suggest when your finshed that you travel down the A7 From Scottish Borders - Carlise, as also one of the nices view you will see, ( and weather that changes every 15mins)

The Hope Valley in Derbyshire (/Lancashire?) is breathtaking. Other parts of Derbyshire, around High Peak and Crich are pretty stunning too.
