Find me a: TV card to dump V+ recordings

So, I has V+ which is all well and fab but along with the inevitable TiVO launch and the box's own lackluster 160GB HDD I could do with a way to dumping a few shows i want to keep.

So the default way to do this is of course with the gormless scart output and a DVD recorder however that's shite, and I don't have a DVD recorder.

So is it possible to instead get a TV card with HDMI in, and then play the shows onto that and record them onto the PC for safe keeping?

And if so, which card should I buy (from amazon) ? Basically I'll be lugging my tower into the front room and HDMIing it onto the telly for output so a PCI card would make sense rather than a USB i presume (although I'll have to swap out my wifi card for the duration, DAMN YOU DELL).

Any ideas / recommendations?

It wont do HD out, but the V+ box does have a rather nice archiving feature which allows you to watch telly as normal through HDMI or SCART1 whilst outputting a recorded programme through SCART2. Is HD important?

well probs not but how many TV cards have scart in was my thinking?

To be honest I was thinking more along the lines of just "watching" the playback on my pootar and then recording that, is that not possible?

Not many have SCART but the very cheapest have composite inputs, and SCART can be split off to exactly that using one of these jobbies.

You can indeed do exactly what you said, just thought it was worth mentioning as an idea :)
