Right.
One of my close friends has started taking drugs, and they're slowly progressing further in; taking worse and worse things and I'm a little bit scared for them. Watching them fuck up their life is tragic. I just wondered if any of you have had similar experiences and could offer any advice? I don't know what I can do to make them stop, or ever acknowledge the risks that they're taking.
Much appreciated.
Drugs.

"Drugs" is a very nebulous term - and the risks vary greatly, although its fair to say that all are ultimately deleterious to health. Keep in mind that alcohol and tobacco can be just as perilous.
All you can do is to discuss it with your friend and tell them that you're concerned, and why you are concerned. Beyond that its for your pal to make a choice.
Lots of people do little amounts of many things, and still function, live, work and maintain a balance. Others not so much.
Harm springs from excess, as granny used to say. But then she also said crazy shit when she was on meth.

witnessing other people fuck up their own lives is one less person in a position to be critical of your own demise. it is a good thing.
