What's happened to Head?

So, the 'final' chapter in the Virgin Megastore/Zavvi debacle was supposed to be that the stores which weren't sold to HMV or closed became 'Head' just after Christmas. Today I'm out in Cardiff, and the Head store is having a closing down sale. Has this venture gone tits up also then?

I think the plan for Head was just to clear out all the ex-zavvi stock, and make a quick profit. It didn't seem like a long-term business model.

It seems the website is still doing business; http://www.zavvi.co.uk/zavvi/home.dept

The zavvi website is owned by a separate company

I'll miss Head when it's gone, the one in Liverpool is really great, but it's still got loads of stock as it's a relatively new store, part of the Liverpool 1 development. When I bought some stuff the first time I went in, I did ask the guy whether this would be permanent and he told me they'd probably be shut by July or whenever they clear all their stock, last time I went it did say a Sale would be starting around mid-June.

I work opposite Head in Cardiff and their time has been running out even before they changed from Zavvi. It is part of the Capitol Shopping Centre which is mainly a fashion centre (H&M, Benneton etc) and I believe that they wish to let the large flagship Head unit to another fashion retailer. It's rumoured to be going to Abercrombie & Fitch.

Zavvi Cardiff was meant to be moving to the new St Davids Centre when it opens, but that was before it all went tits up. Their current unit costs £650,000 a year to let which is simply not viable. But I believe they have no plans to open a new store as Head now.

Head is continuing though. My friend works as a manager for the Cardiff store and he is continuing a role at the company, supporting the other branches.

I was expecting this thread to be concerned with the whereabouts of Cheese Head.

Head in Meadowhall was all the same a week or so ago... seems to look a bit more permanent every time I go in. Still a shite name.
