I've Got An Incredibly Slow Virgin...

...Media Connection.

I've rebooted the router and set top box a couple of times, and even my computer, but it's still slow, and been that way all afternoon. There's no connection heavy processes running either, so I presume the fault is Virgin's fault.

Is anyone else *suffering* in the same way?

Well that fooled me. From the title I thought you'd pulled tonight.

No, "South Coast" as VM would label me... Thanks for that link, I've had a look and there are no reported issues. I suppose I shall have to wait!

It might be worth phoning up... since there are no reported issues, they'll probably tell you it's your fault, but of course until someone complains they won't be aware of the issue! I've found in the past they will take notice if enough people call about it, wouldn't surprise me if general disdain for customer services is what prevents problems getting fixed sooner tbh.

Last minute thought.. try the VM newsgroups instead as they tend to act on things right away.

Having turned on the computer around 5 minutes ago, I can report that everything now seems to be fine - I assume it was just one of those blips.

Thanks Netizen for that advice, I think that'll come in useful if I get a similar problem again that won't go away. Cheers everyone!

i don't know how virgin broadband works, but here on plus.net the support forums recommend you power cycle your router in such circumstances as this will usually cause you to connect to a less congested gateway.
