Well not everyone because I don't give a toss. I'm not a sheep that needs to be spoon-fed hype and frenzy from media scum.barcode wrote:Its seem that Grangemouth ( Scotland's only crude oil refinery)

There's a bloody great big Chevron oil refinery at Milford Haven in SW Wales. Oh, and there are a few other petrol producing refineries in dotted around the UK coast.

To be honest I hope that soon somebody comes up with a new free fuel source that renders oil totally useless.
Sure the economy will take a short-term hit but at least we won't be raped and pillaged at the pumps.
Remember that in Venezuela one can fill up a 4X4 for 40p.

Not likely, hippy. No, I'm certain that "free" means of fuel will be taxed in some way.leavingmenow wrote:To be honest I hope that soon somebody comes up with a new free fuel source that renders oil totally useless.

Venezuela sits on top of a vast petroleum reserve and is their main export, guess they can get it cheap.leavingmenow wrote:Remember that in Venezuela one can fill up a 4X4 for 40p.
Ah, OK. I'd heard it was subsidised.Nini wrote:Venezuela sits on top of a vast petroleum reserve and is their main export, guess they can get it cheap.leavingmenow wrote:Remember that in Venezuela one can fill up a 4X4 for 40p.
Well no wonder there's a fuel crisis. The losers were queuing at all the petrol stations in Dundee last night, I had to use the exit ramp of Morrison's station to get in to use their car wash. No doubt all these panic buyers will then continue to use their cars for their journey to work, on their own, which could be walked in under half an hour.
"He has to be larger than bacon"
What free fuel source would that be? Perhaps we could strap windmills atop our cars... :roll:leavingmenow wrote:To be honest I hope that soon somebody comes up with a new free fuel source that renders oil totally useless.
I wouldn't go holding out Venezuela as a great example. Venezuela's economy is almost entirely reliant on oil industry revenues. Despite promoting "21st century socialism", Venezuelans face increasing inequality as the corrupt government of Hugo Chavez creates new oligarchs on the back of the oil industry. Any attempts to diversify have been largely quashed as foreign investment dwindles and Chavez tries to exert state control over all facets of Venezuelan life.leavingmenow wrote:Remember that in Venezuela one can fill up a 4X4 for 40p.
