Plain scones. Spread with Strawb jam followed by clotted cream and a cup ( china cup) of freshly brewed PG.
To be consumed while seated outside a cafe @ Cheddar gorge on a long hot summers day. Then a trip to St. Ives followed by seven wives.

Bran scones are surprisingly lovely. With some butter.
Haven't had a scone for years. They are perfectly delicious in my memory but I haven't felt the compulsion to buy one. I don't know why. They're not as indulgent as fudge donuts which I do occasionally buy.
Maybe scones need to appear more luxurious and indulgent to make me want one.
Scones with top hats and monocles is what you want.

Scones (pronounced correctly, just ask Willy Hanson) should be consumed only at The Polly Tea Rooms in Marlborough High Street.
Very old.
