has anyone else signed up for this piece of marketing genius?
Essentially, amazon, purveyor of cheap goods with extortionate P&P, has launched a scheme where for £49 a year you get unlimited next day special delivery on any order, no matter how small, which is usually £7 a pop.
It's certainly made me order more things from amazon. Before I'd have added a few things together to reach the £35 mark for free super-slow.
And even better, the way in which the system is set up means you can have more than one delivery address and add several "family members". So its ripe for abuse. fab

I order from amazon maybe 3 or 4 times a year, never actually had to add things to get the "superslow" as you call it for free, and have never really needed stuff to arrive quickly, so for me its not worth it, but like you hyma, I do know others who think its genius too!

I order lots off Amazon but don't really want Next day. I tend to use 1st class delivery which I find quite reasonable. Plus Next day comes with all this "please sign for your package" hassle.
However my most recent order for £3 of product came to £18 in total. I'm not quite sure how that happened.

Well I'm currently sick of buying stuff from eBay and the goods never showing up. In the last 6 mths since the summer, I've bought 5 items. Only 2 turned up.
I complained to eBay and had my money refunded in full.
The most recent item not to turn up was the classic 1997 PC game Total Annihilation. If you haven't played it, it's great!
The follow-up was released last year called Supreme Commander - although it seems quite heavy on the system resources, so I'll wait a while until I switch back to a powerful desktop PC.

Next day delivery isn't officially available in NI, Scottish Highlands and Islands. That said I normally find their delivery very quick. What irritates me is that there are so many Amazon "marketplace" sellers that products from your search results often aren't included in the calculation for free delivery, and there doesn't appear to be a way to filter "Amazon.co.uk items ONLY".
