Magic Moments c/w Catch a Falling Star by Perry Como was the first I ever bought with my own money.
It was, needless to say, on a ten inch 78 and cost eleven old pence at the time, what would be four-and-a-half pence in new money.
That was long after I'd got into the (wind-up) gramophone and had been playing my mother's records of selections from Gilbert and Sullivan, plus what would now be regarded as an "interesting" song, sung by Peter Dawson, entitled "A Batchelor Gay".
All the more interesting in that it included a line talking about him loving her "far the best", which I always mis-heard as "father best" and got slightly puzzled about.

Purchase it here.
Here's an excerpt.
I haven't got an up-to-date copy of that one; I think I might invest £9.99 just for the nostalgia value.

On vinyl. The album of the same name was my first album, on cassette, though tecnically I bought it off my sister.
