...which I am calling worse news for current iPod owners like myself. I am used to Apple taunting us with updated hardware, but this is taking the piss as they introduce a new family with new features:

iPod Shuffle - Same, just different colours
iPod Nano - New design with video playback
iPod Classic - Similar to the latest 80gb model, now thinner and with a capacity if upto 160gb
iPod Touch - The newbie, very similar design to the iPhone with Wi-Fi Internet Browsing, iTunes Store and widescreen display... which even the traditional Classic can't do
iPhone - The long awaited multi-functional tech handheld box thing which does too much to have an "i" infront of it

Below, the newly designed Nano which deserves to be renamed because of it's width:

Below, the new Touch, which is purely mocking the Classic with the phrase "I can do more than you":

The Shuffle and Classic look pretty much the same, and the Classic carries the name Menu design as above. As much as I like these, I already own a 60gb iPod Video... or Classic as I should say, and seeing this is really taking the piss out of owners. I often rip DVD videos to upload onto my iPod and before it was rudely formatted, I was running out of space - now over 100gb more has been announced, i'm rather annoyed. Some may say "why not sell yours and buy a new one" and i've yet thought of a response to that, but for me, it's like swapping televisions - just plain awkward.

Anyway, what do you think about these newbies?

I haven't had an iPod since the days of the Mini, but I'm going to lay claim to one of the 160GB iPod Classics. The Touch is nice, but I was expecting a little more storage than 8 and 16GB.

i had an ipod for a while, a 20gig 3rd gen one. it broke. I also had a 1st gen shuffle. That broke.

I shall not be purchasing any overpriced nonsense from apple again.

In addition to this, Quicktime and iTunes are now banished from my computer as they are complete bloatware.

I would very much like to get an iPod touch, but 16GB really isn't enough. The wi-fi feature is good. My mobile is a Nokia N95 and I thought I'd seldom browse the interweb on a small screen, but actually it's come in pretty handy.

Hopefully in a couple of years we'll have a high capacity MP3 player, with camera, with video calling, 3G, wi-fi, oh yea, and the ability to make calls and all that...

My sister works for UPS, and says that the amount of iPods that get returned via them was more than enough to put her off ever buying one.

Not had a need to have a. need to be surgically removed earpiece since 1980 something or other. It was a Sonywalkman tape cassette thingy. I don't like those earpiece thingys. They make your ears all sore and sweaty. I have music everywhere i go exceppt at home where i have to put headphones on. 'cos the neighbours persistantly banging on door can be very distracting.
