I've got a lot of contacts on Windows Live Messenger, and was wondering if there is an easy way of seeing who I havent spoken to in "x" weeks and deleting them. Had a look on the help guide and couldn't find anything, so thought I'd turn to you guys :)

No way that I've found.

I hit my 999 contacts limit and now have to delete someone to add anyone else. Fortunately you can delete but still allow deleted contacts (or those not on your list) to message you.

If you're just trying to do a bit of housekeeping then I'm not sure what your solution would be.

Is that, possibly, a sort-of, horizontal form of name dropping, by any chance?

Justified but what follows that snippet.

Even though none of my contact lists have reached their limits, I use multiple accounts using a polygamy patch (so that I can stick annoying people on one, friends on another blah blah...)

I have real difficulty remembering who anyone is, if that makes any difference.

Do any of you actually call it Windows Live Messenger, or anything other than MSN?

If you install Messenger Plus Live, it has a feature which tells you when you last spoke to someone, or if they still have you on their contact list, and allows you to delete people through that.

Perhaps I'm better organised than you. I use the "nickname" function so I know who people are and how I know them. I then put them into seperate folders for Metro/TVF, MySpace, Work etc.

I'd have no chance of recognising people simply by their Email addys or their display names.

I do need to do some spring cleaning though. Alot of the folders are full of people I haven't chatted to for ages. I didn't realise there was a limit of 999.

I use to to divide contacts up like this
Legends: Mainly People I Fancied or had some legendry quailty
fLegends: Female Legends
Zee Others: Losers
Sisters:
Work colleagues:

(Or something like that anyway)

Now I dont do grouping.
I can usauly work out who freinds are (meaning people I know in person) even if they're using an unfamiler name you know the ones who try to be witty and the ones who try to say something profound.

You have to here Jovis, before some of the more anally-retentive memebers dive down your throat.

Hard hats beyond this point.
