a very timely thread, as this very evening i decided i'd get an electric shaver. i seem to have tried every conceivable brand of disposable/disposable blade razor and have fallen out with everyone of them.

i'm presuming a leccy one won't shave as close as an old fashioned one, but its worth a try i suppose.

i've tried various sorts of razors, i don't mind the wilkinson sword quattro but the blades are too expensive, i tend to buy gillette disposables or the generic yellow bic.

one of the most underrated components for a nice smooth shave is the gel - i've tried various, but the gillette gel for sensitive skin after a nice warm bath is about as good as it gets.

i can't get on with an electric shaver, makes my skin go all red for hours.

I don't shave every day, but when I do I use a fresh disposable twin blade. The blue one. Doesn't matter what brand so long as you use a fresh one each time. The orange single blade dulls half way through a shave.

I agree with the suggestion that the gel/foam you use is easily as important as the bade - if not more so.

I used to use soap worked to a lather (for cheapness) until I started using Elemis products. I use a shave gel which has a kind of menthol tingle without leaving the skin feeling tight, followed by a 10 minute "post shave recovery mask". There's a moisturiser which follows that.

Poofy? Oh yes. And my skin looks fabulous.

For razors aimed at men, there seems to be an advert every five minutes for a new razor, with an increased amount of blades in it - Gillette seem to be particularly guilty of this. Is it all just a marketing gimmick, or does scraping five blades down your face really make a difference over two or three? And where will the madness end?

And as for me, I've used a Gillette Venus 'Passion' (i.e. it's a pink Gillette Venus) for several years now. It does the job well, and I can't see myself switching to another type at the moment. Although I share the complaint that blades are bloody expensive. That's possibly one of the reasons why I don't defuzz my legs all that much during winter.

I too think the gel is more important than the blade, and I tend to use Gillette Sensitive. For the blades I just get the cheap supermarkert twin ones but they last 2 days if that.

I normally shave just before going to bed and then add some E45 afterwards. It saves time in the morning, and some degree of danger if you're not quite awake.

I use a Lady Remington!

Actually it's a Remington RS 4623, and it only gets occasional use (tut tut!)

But what I want to know is what happened to the other 4622? Did they not work?

Original Source Tea Tree & Mint shave gel is fabulous stuff. It makes your face feel a bit tingly and cold which seemed to sort out my shaving rash a treat.

I use a Wilkinson Sword Quattro thingy, and since we're talking gels, I use King of Shaves, which is uncharacteristically masculine sounding.
