I've had this before, sites "sort of" load but not properly, like the CSS isn't being read properly. I've recently moved over to Firefox2 but it was fine last night, and I can't think what else I've changed. Any ideas?

You mean View -> Page Style, not Text style. Unless its added by an extension.

Incidentally, what do you guys think of Firefox 2.0?

I like it but have major gripes with it:
  • Stupid new download file window designed to be friendly to emulate the IE style
Session restore feature claims my session has crashed even when I was quite happy with how my prior session shut down
Options menu is a total mess and completely unintuitive

beg pardon?

Session restore firing after a shutdown is rather annoying I agree, would be nice if you could tweak the events it fired on.

This is what I get when I click to download a file (please excuse the vulgar filetype, I'm on a computer with nothing but paint!)

It's strange - I've been trying to figure out the logic of this download dialog - it's not appearing every time for me - but it doesn't seem to be tied to certain filetypes either.

I believe the annoying new-style download screen appears when you can't choose to "open" a file (when saving is your only option), such as with EXE files.

Incidentially, am I the only one who hates the new "chatty" style computers of the 21st century use, usually using the first preson? Firefox seems to be using it more and more in the new version and I really dislike it.

E.g.: "[ ] Tell me if the website I'm viewing is a suspected forgery" (instead of "[ ] Report possible forged websites")
E.g.: "[ ] Check my spelling as I type" (instead of "[ ] Inline spell checking")

Vista's guidelines say you should simply state what the action is in a clear voice.

I think its supposed to do that. It's the same thing that happened in Firefox 1.5 when it wouldn't let you open an executable from the internet. All they've done in v2 is remove the grayed-out "Open" option when you opt to download an EXE file. Therefore the only option available is to save it.

The logic would be, if it poses a security risk, it will not give you the option to open it. If you go to Tools -> Options -> File Types -> Manage it tells you there what it will do with some file extensions, namely videos and Adobe Reader files, etc.
