Tiscali revamp

Today i just hopped back onto the computer to use the internet and I noticed something different. The Tiscali homepage has had a change in toolbars and it happened around 5pm.

I'm not really fond of this new look because the homepage now looks big, grey and bulky but are there any Tiscali users here who've experienced this and have any more news about this?

Just popped across to tiscali.co.uk - and it looks no different to how it's been for at least the last 15 months. Apart from those big coloured blobs on the homepage advertising the broadband and phone packages, as they weren't there before.

Well this revamp only occurs to the Tiscali homepage as all the other pages still have the colourful menus and the tidyness that seperates it from the new look.

But I feel like I'm being redirected because the text in the blue header says Tiscali Homepage instead of the Tiscali 10.0, I've found the broadband page that looks exactly like my old homepage and it's taking much longer to upload.

What a coincidence this thread is here, I was about to post one like it. Who here uses them, and what do they think?

I'm currently on a 1MB connection at 19.97, and looking at going for Tiscali 8mb Unlimited. Has anyone had any problems, the Internet seems to suggest they're crap, but then I can find a bad review for almost every ISP there is...

What's your experience with them been like?

Oh, my friend uses/ed Tisscali and she's alaways complaining about them. I'm meeting up with her for a girly night soon so i'll try and remember to ask her, her opinions of Tiscali ( it may be littered with swear words so be warned). Last time we talked netty stuff she was on about switching isp.

My mate uses Tiscali as his primary ISP and he's endlessly going on about how bad it is. Plus, apparently, they "automatically" enforce download limits - which is a real pain!

That's twice I've heard about the not so unlimited limits... hmm.. not sure now.

£12.99 for 8Mb "unlimited" broadband, which I assume ISNT uncapped...
or
£19.97 for 1Mb "uncapped" broadband which I've never had any probs with.

Yeah, I've seen the advert about the £12.99 8MB Tiscali package. But that announcer does sound familiar. I've heard him in the Expedia advert but can anyone please tell me who he is?

As for Tiscali, the homepage is still loading slower than the last one and to keep in line with their Big Brother fetish I find that picture of Pete quite shameful to look at.

But I've had Tiscali for many years as it's the first broadband package my Dad used and many years ago it would take at least 9 seconds to upload.

Service is not at its best at the moment, it was okay a couple of days ago and is currently running like treacle.

This is the only thing with Tiscali really (although other ISPs do this as well) - their service status doesn't do what it says on the tin.

With all these "unlimited" offers, you'll see it says somewhere "Subject to Fair Use Policy". Which basically means "Download Limit (something high) GB/month". It should be illegal to advertise something as unlimited when it does have a limit!

By the way, don't forget that 8MB/s may not be available in your area, and if it is, your current ISP should have no trobule upgrading you (ISPs don't tell you to upgrade with them for free, you have to remember for yourself!). It may not be worth the hassle of changing ISPs.

Of course 8MB ADSL isn't available anywhere. ADSL1 can't do 8 megabytes a second.

If you mean 8Mbit, then from most ISPs it's available just about everywhere (using BT wholesale max). If you live on a very rural exchange in wales or scotland then only 512k from a few ISPs for you.

I recommend you do not signup with Tiscali, they are truly useless.
