just a quickie, there is a port and binary for squid http://www.acmeconsulting.it/pagine/ope ... idnt25.htm available for windows here and i'm wondering if anybody has had any experience of running this under windows, and if so, is performance comparable to the linux counterpart?
i would use a linux build but i need a quick fix for something and it needs to sit on a wintel server for now.
any feedback or resources would be greatly appreciated.
Anybody ever got Squid 2.5 to run under Windows?

In my experience, quick fixes are more time consuming in the long run, because the fix has to be done twice -- once for the quick fix, then secondly for the proper fix, which sometimes becomes even more time consuming because of the damage done by the quick fix.
Incidentally, depending on just what you want the proxy server to do, you might like to do a comparison of features with wwwoffle, and see which serves your needs better.
