I saw some photos taken of me when I was 17 today, and my god I was one fat bastard.
The clothes....OMG! I was wearing a plain white t-shirt from £-Strecher, and ill-fitting jeans (38" waist!).
The worst thing of all, was that I had very fat cheeks, several chins, pale-pasty skin and...manboobs!! OMG!
I was so shocked when I saw the pics today, because I really didn't realise I was so fat. I know I used to eat lots and lots of junk food and rarely do any excercise, but I was seriously fat!
I don't have a scanner with me at the moment, but I'll do my best to show you the photos as soon as I can. They're really shocking.
Lastly, I do remember what triggered my weight loss in 2001. I was still a dreaded virgin at the time, and I really really fancied this girl I kinda knew at college. I asked her out one day, and she told me that I had bigger breasts than her (which I did!), and I was so so gutted.
I immediately stopped eating things like pizza, crisps, sweets and chocolate and I stopped snacking in-between meals. It was very tough though, and it's probably why I started smoking - something else to do rather than fill my face.
Are any of you unhappy with their current body size, or have you managed to lose weight after a particular gutting event such as a rejection stunned you into losing the rolls of fat from your tummy, legs, arms and face?
When I used to be obese
I have never been obese. I could eat a bowl of whale soup followed by a lard and dripping sandwich and still not put on an ounce.
In hospital last year I went from 9 stone down to just 6 stone in a fortnight. However I don't reccomend the heart failure/fluid retention diet.
I'm back to my normal 7 and half stone now.
Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones....

Then:
27.5 stones
54" waist
48" chest
Now:
15.5 stones
34" wait
42 chest
If you ask nicely I'll post some before and after pics so you will get an idea of what that looks like.

Not to be crass gav, but did you end up with lots of spare skin for a while? I've always wondered that about people with dramatic weight loss.Gavin Scott wrote:If you ask nicely I'll post some before and after pics so you will get an idea of what that looks like.

I did. At the time it made the whole weight loss experience almost empty; and for a while I was tangibly more unhappy as a 'post-fat' person. I was left feeling I was 'deceiving' anyone who was attracted to me whilst fully clothed.Sput wrote:Not to be crass gav, but did you end up with lots of spare skin for a while? In March this year I had a full abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), removing all of the excess skin.
Although I've healed, it will take another few months for the scar to fade, and my skin to countour itself across my mucletone.
It's already looking pretty amazing, if I say so myself.

I know you didn't ask, but here it is. The Gavin on the left is 14 years younger and 12 stone heavier.
The picture on the left, I might add, is from a production of "My Fair Lady". I was playing Colonel Pickering.

Wow, Gavin, you're a totally different person. I would never match those two photos up if I had to say who that was.Gavin Scott wrote:I know you didn't ask, but here it is. The Gavin on the left is 14 years younger and 12 stone heavier.

Fair play to you Gavin - that's an amazing achievement. I do find it quite a bizarre concept that almost half of someone's mass can simply disappear though. Did you have to cally DynoRod at any point?
