Hello folks...

Last night I managed to install linux, and hey - it actually works. Ok, some how i fucked up being able to boot into windows but i'll sort that out later.

Does anyone here know of an MSN clone for Mandrake 10 that is laready compiled and i can just install without compiling? I cant find any pre-compiled versions, I have three folders of different sources that i donr know how to compile/install.

Kopete keeps telling me my password is incorrect - so i went to update, but surprise surprise, its a source code

Thanks in advance folks...

Get a windows cd to boot you into dos and do fdisk /mbr
Then reinstall linux (or try using a linux boot disk to get to lilo config - loconf?) and do it properly this time :)

I believe this is what you're looking for. AMSN Messenger is an open sourced clone of MSN Messenger available
for Linux/UNIX, Mac OS X, and even Windows, and is effectively the closest you're going to get to actually
using your "Microsoft.NET" account for messaging on Linux via MSN. It doesn't have all the features of
the latest official version of MSN Messenger though. It's somewhat reminiscent of MSNM v5.x.

In fact, anyone that might think the recent official release of MSN Messenger for Windows is bloated or
has some features you might never use, then the Windows version of AMSN Messenger could be ideal!

On another point, how do you force MSN 6.2 to work?

Due to problems with the MFT becoming corrupted on my drive because of a crash whilst it was defragging, I've had to wipe it and in the process, reinstall Windows.

However, I cannot seem to get 6.2 to work properly - it forces me to download the new (crap, bloated and generally, ick.) v7 of MSN, otherwise I can't log on.

Any ideas as to how to trick Windows so I can log in?

I've tried AMSN in the past and it looks rather rough. I'd rather not use it.
