I recently installed Firefox 1.0, and some extensions became disabled because they are not compatable, so they went red in the extensions menu. So, I decided to get rid of some of the extensions I don't normally use and clicked "Uninstall" on a couple of the disabled ones. I got the usual message saying "This item will be uninstalled after you restart Firefox", and I restarted the browser. The disabled extensions are still in the extensions menu and they still say "This item will be uninstalled..." no matter how many times I restart either the browser or the computer. The "Uninstall", "Update" and "Options" buttons are all inactive on the extensions as well.
Also, I got the Mouse Gestures extension v1.0 when I got Firefox 1.0, tried that for a while and then tried to uninstall it. "This item will be uninstalled..." came up, and has stayed up like with the other extensions, except Mouse Gestures is still working in the browser.
I have tried re-installing Firefox as a whole but the problem wont go away.
There must be something wrong with the extensions manager if none of the extensions can be uninstalled, but I dont know what it is or what to do. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Noel.
PS, I posted a message a while ago on the Firefox Extensions forum on Mozillazine, but I thought I'd try all you people here too as well, because you are all sooo knowledgable, and I'm... not.
Very weird problem.... with Firefox 1.0
well as you appear to have upgraded to 1.0 I'd advise creating a new profile.
First of all back up your bookmarks by selecting Export from the bookmark manager.
Go to c:\documents and settings\<user name>\application data\mozilla\
and delete the firefox folder to wipe all trace of the old versions and old extensions.
Once you restart firefox it'll create a new clean profile which should work much nicer.
The problem with upgrading is there has been so much change over the months to the extensions system lots of things have been broken and rebroken before we reached 1.0
