Staying online when you log off Windows

OK then, I'm a cheapskate with a USB modem for my broadband (it was free, I'm not paying £80 or whatever for a router).

Basically, and this occasionally happened back in the days of my old narrowband connection, I want to be able to log off windows while keeping the internet connection alive so the next person to log on can use it and/or I can access my web server while the PC is at the logon prompt.

How do I go about doing this?

Switching users works I think, but thats only on XP. You could setup each user, so they connect automatically when they log in, but I wouldnt know exactly how you go about it.

Switching Users does indeed work but I use the 2000 style logon screen.

To be quite honest it's more of a "I want to keep the internet running while the logon screen is showing" request.

I am on Telewest and my broadband connection is always open, irrespective of who's logged in or out or which machine they may be on, which what I thought broadband was all about.
All my machines are well protected (not using windoze firewall/av).
