The ULTIMATE nightmare pub quiz question! ;)
Here we go...

Ten points to the first person to name the only number one British hit single that contains, somewhere in its lyrics, the title of the very song that knocked it off the number one spot.

Answer sometime next year. ;)
Knowing my luck, some sod'll get this in 30 seconds...

Adam Faith "What Do You Want"

Emile Ford and the Checkmates "What Do You Want To Makes Those Eyes At Me For"

Where do I claim my ten points?

Er... not the answer I have! But I have checked and you can have ten points anyway! A further ten points to the person who has the answer I have! Here's a clue, ignore the song title.

From November 1975-January 1976, Queen occupied the Number one slot with mock-opera-rock-ballad 'Bohemian Rhapsody', containing the lyrics 'Mamma mia, let me go...'

The next number one was 'Mamma Mia' by Abba.

Do I get a gold star? ;)

This is a pretty well-known bit of pop trivia, and should be familiar to anyone who did the National Pop Music Test a few weeks back.

The very next pair of number ones after these would also do: "Starry Eyed" by Michael Holliday ("that's just WHY you're so starry eyed") was replaced by "Why" by Anthony Newley.

Cheers, Brad.

Speaking of music quizzes, I won a £10 drinks voucher for coming first at my local pub quiz... got 82 points out of a possible 100 :)
