I was just wondering if it is possible to get some form of cable from Scart to S-Video, as I am rather clueless about it. I am asking as I wish to use my VCR with my TV Card but, the VCR will only work via S-Video and the VCR doesn't have S-Video.
At the moment I just use an RF Cable to watch the TV with, if it is of any help I am using a Hauppauge Win TV USB card.
Is it Possible?

I've got the same card, woo... You can do this a number of ways. Most VCRs have a coxal (RF) in and out, put the in (Ariel) into the VCR, and the out (from VCR) into the in on the TV card. You can then watch the channels, as well as the VCR all be it in analogue. But VCR's don’t get much better via Scart/S-Video anyway.
Or...
You can get a Scart to S video lead... however you will need to somehow split the audio from the scart to a mini jack lead for the line in on the TV card. This is possible but involves killing leads and soldering things.
You best bet if you want to do this is get a AV lead, Scart to phonos audio and video (RCA) then a Phono to S-Video converter (cheaper) and a phono to minijack converter.

Make sense? No, oh well.

I apologise if I confused you, I meant that the VCR doesn't have an S-Video output, it only had RF and SCART, I have tried the RF way several times and done so many retunes that it just simply doesn't work, though it worked when I had something in the RF Input and then I linked the RF Output of the VCR to the RF Input of the TV Card, the TV worked, the video didn't!Bail wrote:"The VCR will only work via S-Video and the VCR doesn't have S-Video." - What do you mean? I'll take your advice about the SCART, RCA and Phono, cheers for the advice.
My set-up involves this:

I plug the SCART of the jack into the VCR's SCART socket. Then, I plug an S-Video lead into the other side of the jack, and then into the S-Video socket on the TV card. For audio, I use 2 PHONO to mini jack, as pictured below:

I plug the two PHONO ends into the jack, and the single mini jack end into the TV card. That seems to work for me!

Well cheers for all of the advice, but I had a mess round earlier and I managed to do it via RF, I thought you could only do it through S-Video, but I did a retune on a different mode it found the channel for the VCR, so I am quite pleased.
