As funny as this is, does it not make you wonder whether countries where something like this can happen are actually beyond all help?
I mean, what is the point in promoting democracy, talking about AIDS prevention, developing nations spending billions sending food... when people think they're going to die if they answer the telephone?
I know people will say "oh, but we have to give money to provide education for these people". Do we? We have been giving aid for years, and yet still something of such unutterable stupidity manages to happen.
You can't help but think that the words 'enemy' and 'own worst' come into play.
