Tabs in Firefox

I've decided to give Firefox another try and I'm sick to death of IE always crashing at the slightest thing. :evil:

I've been trying to use the tabs feature that seems to be plugged frequently. Whenever I used to open up a page in a new window in IE I always used to hold down the shift key and then click the link, however it seems to do the same when I use Firefox.

How do I get Firefox to open up the link in a new tab when I hold down shift and click? :?

Right click the link, and select "Open Link in New Tab" . . .

I mean without doing that ... it does sort of get annoying after a while to do that. ;)

Isn't there some kind of option to switch it around (ie. when holding down shift it opens in a new tab rather than a new window) ?
