Well, put simply - I would like an iPod. I've played with one, I love it and don't need to hear any "this or that is better than it"
But what I do want your advice on is where I can obtain the best price on the 20Gb model. I've done a bit of searching and looked on ebay, but I can't find anywhere obvious that's really cheap.

I dont know if things are any different now, but when I got my ipod over a year ago there was very little difference in price on the highstreet, in the end I went to John Lewis purely for availability reasons.
It seems the cheapest place you will get them is ebay, thats if you make it through all the 'not an ipod' auctions that litter your search :roll:

I know - I mean, do people really fall for the "Get an ipod for £20" gubbins!? If they do fall for it then they really do deserve to lose their money.

I managed to get a 15gb one from Ebay about a month ago for "just" £190, I'd recommend it if money is an issue but you really want one. Make sure of a few things though.
1. Make sure it's a 3rd generation, they have better interfaces (touch sensitive...oooo) and less issues with battery life. They're also still getting software updates and have better games
2. Make sure you have firewire, you can get a card for a tenner or buy a usb cable for much slower transfers (probably costs more too). Make sure the card you get doesn't have any iPod compatability issues - you can usually search around forums on google to see if they're mentioned.
3. Be patient on eBay and look for the very newest "buy it now" items. Now and again a good deal will come through if you're fast enough.
4. Have a fecking GIANT music collection - carrying it around with you every day, you will get sick of it.
Other than that though - they're FAB. It's also possible that if the mini one *EVER* launches over here (summer is pencilled in I believe) that demand for the old sort will plummet and price will flop.

Well I have taken the plunge and bought one from Amazon for £260 - which is is £40 cheaper than what you can get them on the high street. So it'll do me!
