I agree with what you said. It was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek remark, which stepped over the line, and I apologise as it has clearly caused offence.cat wrote:I am, apparently, unbanned. But not from the Newsroom, which was supposedly the only place I was banned from in the first place.
I was told that it was expected that I understood why I had been a bad boy.

As James has said, I'm not actually feeling that a ban from there is such a bad thing.

Have we established whether you actually reported the post or not ?
Either way, James H, Alexandre, whatever is a total numpty.

The post was definately reported by James H so HE IS is a total numpty for sure. But then that's nothing we didn't already know.Square Eyes wrote:Have we established whether you actually reported the post or not ?

It is as well.... and indeed what led me into TV Forum. And then here.Dr Lobster* wrote:Ah.... that brings back memories of the NOTBBC forum- I just did a search for it and i'm quite suprised not only is it still there, it still looks the same as i remember!
Without a doubt -- I mean he's gone and saved his avatar in BMP format. He's going to have to pay for all that wasted bandwidth... and I don't mean with money. And apart from that it's a hideous avatar anyway, whenever I look at it it makes me sick. At least he maintained SOME dignity previously by not having one at all.Isonstine wrote:The post was definately reported by James H so HE IS is a total numpty for sure. Goodness knows indeed.Jamez wrote:... more popular. Goodness knows why he asked me for advice on that!
*Snigger*
(just kidding

IIRC it wasn't about trying to be popular. It was about trying to work out what kind of person you actually were. After you became a moderator and told me my flippant use of the f-word would not be tolerated.Jamez wrote:Poor old James H.
He's trying to be someone he's not on Metropol. I remember the time he PM'd me for advice on how to be more popular.

Since about Xmas-Boxing Day we haven't talked.
I seem to recall you looking like some fifteen-year-old smarmy tosser who has lots of daddy's money to play around with. Whatever denman, you've pretty much always unjustifiably hated me, and to be honest I gave up caring a while ago. Anyway, haven't you got to go and comb your hair in that silly way again?cdd wrote:Without a doubt -- I mean he's gone and saved his avatar in BMP format. As for Metropol well I found it about 3 months after I joined TVF. It was a welcome break from TV Forum's tedium sometimes and it was good to join in some discussions. It does seem however since then I've had difficulty trying to find an online persona to fit into. Lots of fifteen year olds would quite happily come on here and talk utter crap in the hope of being branded a "troll". There are some intelligent fifteen year olds out there. In fact there are a few on TVForum.
I don't speak to many forumers outside of the forums themselves. In fact my contact list contains only 14 MP/TVF-ers. I tend to find sometimes people here and at the other place are very quick to make assumptions about people when they don't know the full facts. I know I've probably been guilty of it in the past but it happens increasingly more often with people who don't reveal a lot about themselves on the net. I know I don't. Jamez's recent attacks meant that any personal information that he had given out had been used against him. So you can understand why some of us are more reluctant than others to give out personal details.
As an Aspergers Tendency (not syndrome) sufferer, yes, I think the forums could count as borderline obsession. There are points during the day when I feel it necessary to check the forums and there are some characters on here I genuinely like. I'm not nearly as bad as Katherine (otherwise this ENTIRE post would be devoted to Look North Hull with lots of ellipses.....) but I'm far from perfect.
Re cat's banning. I've said this before and I'll say it again, so read carefully. I appreciate it was a ridiculous comment to make and I apologise profusely. However I can't understand for the life of me how that RTP got there because the only thing I did in relation to that post was the rather lame "cant" joke. Unfortunately it's not at my jurisdiction to decide what cat does next or what Charlie does next so I had no influence on the final decision. I am glad he's been partially (hopefully soon fully) reinstated onto the forums. Even if his pro-Murdochian stance is laboriously tedious.
This forum is full of good people. But there are a few people (like me as well) who need to stop and take a good look at themselves before they post. IMO there is play-bitching, and there is real sniping. And the latter happens all too often on here.
How about actually being yourself?since then I've had difficulty trying to find an online persona to fit into.
14 is actually a lot!! I have less than 5 people from TVF/MP on my MSN list, and I wouldn't like it to become any more than that!I don't speak to many forumers outside of the forums themselves. In fact my contact list contains only 14 MP/TVF-ers.
True, true. But some would also argue that what gives this place "charm".This forum is full of good people.
