Metropol, again, a couple of days after launch, initially to reserve my name, but posted from the start as I'd grown in confidence by that time.
Why and when did you join?
Well I joined TVF a couple of days after it launched, can't remember the exact reasons, took me quite some time to post as I was (and still am
) incredibly shy. And Dyslexic, not wanting to come across as a total twit that couldn't spell, though I eventually did.

I've always had an interest in TV Pres. As a kid, I remember looking forward to the Six O'Clock News coming on after Neighbours in the 1990s so I could hear that fabulous theme tune and cut glass graphics. I first got the internet in around 1998/9 but it wasn't until 2000 that I realised there was an active community that shared my interest. I went on holiday to Rome at that time and saw BBC World. I loved the presentation that much that I decided to look for it on the web. At that point, the big four websites were, of course, TV Home, TV Ark, The TV Room and Jim Edwards' TV World. I also loved a website called 'Round The Regions' which looked at the various regional news programmes from across the country. Towards the end of 2000 I started to help Asa by capturing clips for TV Home and put a lot of effort into getting as wide a coverage as possible of local BBC news programmes. I went on a school trip to Belgium in March 2001 (just after the BBC bomb) and when I returned, TV Forum had just opened so I instantly signed up. Asa moderated alone for the first few months and then asked me to help him in around June/July 2001. Like Gavin said, I can't believe that we've all been chatting here for 8 years. I would never have predicted that in the beginning. I joined Metropol when it opened purely to secure my username (especially with being a mod on TVF - didn't want any impersonations) and have dipped in and out as and when I have had something to say.
I miss that website, it was one of the earliest sites I visited when I started using the internet in 2001.itsrobert wrote:I also loved a website called 'Round The Regions' which looked at the various regional news programmes from across the country.

Mental anxiety, Mental breakdowns, Menstrual cramps, Menopause... Did you ever notice how all our problems begin with Men?
My interest in television presentation began when I found an old HTV ident on a video in around 1998 - I was 15 and our school had just got networked internet for the first time. First pres site I came across was Andrew Wiseman's TV Room, then MHP, then TVHome. Joined TVForum thereafter, albeit under a different name pre-crash. Was aware of Metropol, but only joined when I realised it was way more fun over here than over there.
Got bored with Australian forums, joined TV Forum and eventually moved over here.
