I feel loads better now, my little thrush. Just knowing that i can give him a good earbashing when my days are numbered, is enough to make life worth living.J.Christie wrote:I reckon he does exist. I'm not religious or anything but I just have a feeling.
Do you believe in God?

Of course, silly me.J.Christie wrote:Now you're just being stupid.Jamez wrote:Do you have the same feeling about Father Christmas too, sweetie?J.Christie wrote:I reckon he does exist. I'm not religious or anything but I just have a feeling.
We all know that FC is far more superior to anything that God could ever aspire to.

How do you know that? Are you C.I.D? Did i leave my D.N.A behind?PutneyMatt wrote:But only because you were the one who cut his brakesmiss hellfire wrote: I knew my ex-boyfriend would have an accident in his car.
Oh my god i've been rumbled.

Obviously it's a natural human trait to be afraid of death in some way. If we didn't we'd all be jumping of buildings willy-nilly! Darwinism and all that.
The obvious answer is that we start as dust and end up as dust. But that's so difficult to accept, or even begin to imagine. I mean, how can something just be nothing - without breathing, without anything? Not only is it hard to contemplate but it's painful. There's no doubt that I have a real fear of death -- it's nature's way of ensuring the population levels don't skyrocket.
I feel that my view on death will change for the better as I get older. I feel I'll get more and more bored with life on this planet and eventually enjoy the idea of an ultimate rest. But until then I'll continue to lose sleep over it at night.

Possibly I'm being very thick here - but how does a fear of death ensure population levels don't skyrocket?cdd wrote:There's no doubt that I have a real fear of death -- it's nature's way of ensuring the population levels don't skyrocket.
And why does Darwinism imply that if we didn't fear death, we'd all be jumping out of windows? Natural selection would surely make sure that those of an inclination to jump out of windows and kill themselves wouldn't pass on their suicidal genes to the next generation. So the trait would very quickly die out, and never get the chance to spread widely through the population.
Regarding first point -- sorry, badly phrased on my part, I meant that death itself "ensures the population levels don't skyrocket."Boughton wrote:Possibly I'm being very thick here - but how does a fear of death ensure population levels don't skyrocket?cdd wrote:There's no doubt that I have a real fear of death -- it's nature's way of ensuring the population levels don't skyrocket.

Rregarding point 2 -- that's exactly what I mean.
