No Palm?

I got my first smartphone in April, a Palm Pre Plus from Verizon. The hardware is lacking, but the software is so intuitive, it totally makes up for it. Using an iPhone seems so weird, with limited (if at all) multitasking, when I can have about 30 apps open at the same time (hypothetically)

I have a Palm Treo Pro - lovely bit of kit. I'd promised I'd get a Palm Pre Plus as soon as I got a placement, but the placement I have has a veeery low salary so probably wont be able to afford it

I have the iPhone 3GS at the moment. Considering upgrading to the iPhone 4 when my contract ends.

My phones...

• October 2002-early 2004 - Ericsson T28S on One2One/T-Mobile (dated even for it's time)
  
  Early 2004-Dec 2004 - Nokia 3510i on Orange (I still love the look of that phone)
  
  Dec 2004-June 2006 - Sagem MyV 55 on Vodafone (crap phone - no idea why I had it so long)
  
  June 2006-Oct 2007 - Motorola SLVR Red on Orange (great looking phone but hated the firmware)
  
  Oct 2007-June 2009 - Sony Ericsson K800i on Orange (brilliant - it had everything you wanted in a phone for it's time)
  
  June 2009-Dec 2009 - Samsung Tocco Lite on Orange/O2 (not a bad phone if a little slow to use, still use it for the FM radio occasionally)
  
  Dec 2009-present - Apple iPhone 3GS on Tesco Mobile (amazing)

So pretty much every network at some point...

I not had many phones, but I have stuck with Sony for the past 7 years. There been simple enough to operate, I do know others who have gotten N95-8G, Samsung omini, but there all gone back to Sony aswell now.

I have had

* W800
* C902 ( not the best phone but did the job, It keep crashing every so often. but you had plenty of room for pic and music. Plus it was simple and easy! )
* X10 just waiting for the update to 2.2 Android but its good enough phone.

I dont trust O2, I think there bunch of cowboys and one of the worst networks around.

I've been on Orange my whole time although at the moment they're stretching my goodwill slightly so when the inevitable change to iPhone / Desire comes in January I might take a look at other operators.

The list goes as follows:

• 2000-2002 Phillips Savvy - Fabulous little phone, practically indestructable too as I did throw some considerable abuse at the thing
• 2002-2003 Nokia 3310 - I loved this although managed to lose it so was sans phone for a few months
• 2004-2005 Sagem MyX6 - Now I actually really liked this phone, it was the first one I ever really got comfortable texting on
• 2005-2006 Samsung D600 - My mum has this as a spare, still works and I forgot how much I actually liked this thing. Was a powerful little bugger in its day, esp if you watched the hillariously overblown spy movie that was included in the sample videos.
• 2006-2007 Samsung E900 - This annoyed me no end, the touch buttons were hideous and easily missed/pressed and it really highlighted the time wasting unnecessary button presses in the Samsung firmware. They were in the D600 too but you didn't notice them as you could quickly push a real button rather than have to faf with a silly touch panel. This also tended to crash a lot and after I gave it to a friend only lasted another 8 months. Junk.
• 2007-2009 Sony Ericsson w910i - The evil beast. The prototype for the range it had so many flaws in terms of design, buggy software and terrible reception. In its last months it decided to try and set itself on fire. Luckily I was in the same room and was able to catch the very loud "critical error, unplug immediately" alert on the screen (and burn my hand in the process). In the end this had to be sent to Sweeden who kindly send me out a brand new one, which I sold on eBay. yuck.
• 2009-Present Sony Ericsson w705 - tolerable, at most. The phone itself is fine, however the reception is notoriously poor. Tends to drop calls an awful lot.

Whilst the 910 was off for repair I used a Nokia 1100. This had flawless reception despite it's complete lack of features / T9.

So yes, likely to be an iPhone next. Prob 3GS. Unless I go for whaetever Android thing HTC have out at that moment.

2003 - Ericsson Tsomething, massive and a prototype so never worked correctly
2003 - 2005 Motorola T720 Colour flippy
2005 - 2006 Samsung of some kind: Flippy with a camera on a sort of wheel so it could face you or out of the back. Succumbed to water in my bag
2006 - 2008 Nokia 6280. Worst. Phone. Ever.
2008 - 2010 Nokia N95 Silver. Second. Worst. Phone. Ever
2010 HTC Hero: Good but then a fab deal came along for...
2010 (March): HTC Desire. Best. Phone. Ever

I have a HTC Legend, and it's absolutely fab. Not very good at handling water though; both the Legend and my old Samsung G600 got dunked in water on my Duke of Edinburgh expedition - the Samsung's fine but the Legend is currently in Vodaphone's (hopefully) capable hands. I've been given a Samsung H1 as a replacement while mine is being fixed and it's shite.

Moral - Buy a HTC Legend, but don't give it a bath.

I'd have to look up the numbers for my phones, but they've all been Nokias. I think I've had 4. No, 5.

Anyway, they've all been super and lasted me for years - and other folk are getting the use out of at least 2 of them.

Now on the HTC Desire and its the best phone I've had. There are moments I'd love a tactile keyboard though - I cannot tell a lie.
