Actually this thread may prove useful once again. Any ideas anyone on how to rotate an object in AE (The Earth for example) on a slanted axis (Think BBC News, the not straight on rotation kinda thing)

I've got an earth texture I've made look pretty with CCSphere and I could easily animate it around its point in its default position. Its kinda hard to explain so here's some crudely rendered gifs..

This is what it does at the moment (which I don't want)

This is the orientation I want it to have.. (but cant animate properly, see it still rotates around the wrong point)

Edit: actually that 2nd animation sorta works if you add some layer rotations.. ah well, im going to post this anyway because I've rendered these fab gifs now!

Bail, make it on another comp, import it onto the comp you want it on, select the layer, press R and adjust it to the angle you want it to spin on.

Ah but because its "fake" 3D I can't alter the axis where it spins which is always at the top of the sphere, not the top of the earth in its relative position, if you see.

Also sorry for the sick Sput :P

Can I drag this thread off slightly and ask why nignoG is being dubbed by Jake Humphries?

Exactly, its not revolving around the polls but around the top and bottom of the texture...

I noticed that, it appears to be red solid/comp. CC Sphere. and a mask applied to the source comp/layer.

Still doesn't solve my wonky earth problem. Annoyingly I could very easily render a pretty earth any way I want in Carrara, but I'd prefer to do it within AE so I can match camera moves etc. Sigh.

I'm afraid I can't help, have you tried asking at Creative Cow?

Well, I decided to go for Premiere Elements in the end, seeing as I have a few video projects coming up and I'm likely to have to wait a good few months to a year for a Mac!

Anyway, when playing back (previewing) the timeline, the video is fine and non-jerky, but I occasionally get no sound. Despite rendering it, that is. Anyone know what might be causing this, please, and can it be fixed? Thanks.
