I was in town one evening last week and while passing Bhs, I noticed lots of staff staying behind late getting the Christmas stuff ready to put on the shelves at the side of the store. Then, while passing the same store today, the Christmas stuff had been moved to the front of the shop.

I think Boots are on the cusp of putting their Christmas stuff out, their Christmas gifts catalogue is already out and they have Mix and Match in the gifts department ready in York.

I've noticed Christmas ads on telly for EuroDisney, I'm sure we'll get the usual Christmas ad threads on the other place soon enough, bemoaning the lack of Geoffrey/Coca-Cola trucks and brimming with excitement when the Yellow Pages/Hellman's Mayonnaise adverts get dusted down. Or maybe that's just me, then.

I keep my christmas twinkly indoor lights up all year round. I love them, it makes the house all cosy.
I'll prob put the rest up about a week before christmas and take them down on the 3rd January.

I get wound up when the christmas stuff goes into shops in September. They get organised for Christmas before Halloween, bonfire day and my birthday it's just wrong.

Ballymena in County Antrim, a town not known for its forward thinking has got the Christmas Tree in the town centre up already.

Perhaps it's just the result of pedantic council officials delaying the tree from Christmas 2006
Either way, it's going to look rather sad by Christmas 2007 if they've killed it now!

London's main Christmas lights in Oxford Street and Regent Street will be going up soon, I expect. Oxford Street's lights are due to be switched on on the 7th November, with Regent Street's being switched on on the 20th.

There's some talk of this year's Hogmanay Street Party in Edinburgh being the last due to it costing millions upon millions of pounds.

Can't say I'm either surpised or bothered by it being stopped. The city centre is closed (even to residents if they are just outside the cordoned off area), and tickets are put on sale some time in October. They were sold out within 10 minutes to people from all over the country.

I wouldn't be too bothered except we do get a lot or arrogant twats who visit, piss and puke in the streets and then say they think Scotland is full of people they don't like. They can suck my balls and pay for their own party, and I'll get my city back.
