Dell have not been "slated" for anything.
Some batteries in Dell branded laptops (and also Toshbia laptop batteries and Applie iBook G4 and Powerbook G4) are potential fire hazards. The real fault lies with Sony, as they provided Dell with the faulty batteries originally.
