PC image refusing to display on LCD screen

Luckily, I've plugged it into a regular monitor and it appears fine, thought the resolution was too low. I set it to a higher one and plugged it back into the Toshiba, and now it's appeared. However, the edges of the screen have been cut off, and I cannot see the taskbar, not to mention the screen is also stretched even though I an selecting a widescreen resolution. I've looked through menus on the TV to alter the picture, and there's only one setting called "PC Settings" or something, but that's been locked out and I can't access that menu for some reason.

Do you know where I might be able to find, if they exist, any dedicated drivers for Toshiba screens, or would this not solve this problem?

My display adaptor will not allow different resolutions on the Laptop and on the extension screen. The only solution to match both is to reduce the Laptop Resolution to that of the LCD secondary display whether it is either a TV or Monitor. The entire screen will then show on both devices.

Don't forget that computer monitors are 16:10, but televisions are 16:9.

If you choose a 16:10 ratio, 1440x900 for example, you do lose the top and bottom of the image when shown on a television.
