Well, it's taken a painful two and a half hours due to a slow server which crashed a few times, but yes - all completed and just £11.50 (inc VAT) for Win 7 Ultimate.Sput wrote:Not sure if anyone here actually does work for those places, but thought I'd pass along the tip!

There was only one section on Linux - 'fact or myth' in style - and unsurprisingly Windows 7 came out better in all the results. I wonder why...
I would say it's a lot closer but not quite. On a mac it still seems like a lot less effort to get an idea of what's going on in terms of having things like:
- File copy progress bars all being in the same container instead of separate floating windows
- Seeing what programs are running
- Knowing whether you've got new mail and how much there is
- Dashboard widgets instead of widgets there all the time
- Switching between Wifi connections (though this is MUCH improved over xp)
- Backing up to a network volume is still a pain. Attempt #3 tonight!
That said, Windows 7 has the amazing maths input panel and Paint.

Knight knight
I would have to agree with Herr Sput there. I think one thing that has been most frustrating of Windows' development of late has been that a lot of the basic things that could make it a hell of lot better just seem to get overlooked. The overall impression you get from any Apple product is that it 'just works' and something such as OS X or the iPhone is testament to that. The reality is that they both Apple and Microsoft products take a lot of getting used to - but Apple tends to put the things that anyone would want, day to day, right in front of you.
Good Lord!
Actually my impression about Apple products is that it just breaks, and something such as the iPhone is testament to that.
I've been through three handsets replaced under warranty and the software is still crashy and buggy. Still a lovely phone though.

cdd - Imagine the Windows Phone...
I - thankfully - haven't had any problems with my iPhone since I got it in April, guess it's more of a luck thing with that.
Mac OS though - I have never, ever had it crash on me or have any problems whatsoever in over 2 years of use, something I could never say about Windows.

i don't think i've seen a full windows xp crash due to a bug windows itself in all the years i've used it. a couple of blue screens i've seen recently which were not hardware related were caused by the antivirus filter driver (there are a couple of tools you can download from the microsoft website you can use to analyse dump files and see which module failed) but i take your point in that because mac os doesn't seem to need a resident antivirus scanner like windows it certainly has one less layer to go wrong.
i'm with cdd on the iphone/ipod touch. lovely, lovely interface. very natural. and when you get used to it, no other phone interface quite cuts it, but it is buggy. wireless dropping out. apps needing to be uninstalled/reinstalled for no reason etc etc.

Took a similar length of time for me - but no Win 7 Ultimate on the Rewards page. Looks like their supplies are exhausted already.Andrew Wood wrote:Well, it's taken a painful two and a half hours due to a slow server which crashed a few times, but yes - all completed and just £11.50 (inc VAT) for Win 7 Ultimate.
If so, not impressed.
