This might sound odd, but you know police boxes? Do you still have them in your area?

The wooden ones, a la Doctor Who, are in short supply I would expect, but Edinburgh had cast iron ones, which will probably be there until they rust.

I pass about 4 on my way to and from work. Are these somewhat unique to Edinburgh or are they ten a penny?

Apologies for the not so good google map image.

You used to see them all around London but they have been disappearing of late. Probably the good Doctor uses them and is a little careless about putting them back in the same place.

Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.

But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

There's one in Sheffield city centre, but it's painted green & cream.

Indeed, they are such a feature in Edinburgh they even have their own planning guidence.

I quite like how some are tarted up for retail use, whilst others sit hiding away in residential areas. Surprised no-one's made a list of them all.

That's what I thought. I've heard people mentioning individual ones dotted here and there (which makes them noteworthy), but there's dozens and dozens of them in Edinburgh - probably because the cost to remove is so high. The Edinburgh ones are plumbed with water and waste, as I've seen inside one and there was a loo in there. Probably helps them being retrofit as coffee stands. One of them sitting out at the Maybury has a siren on the top - for a nuclear attack maybe? That's what I imagined when I was a kid, anyway.

There's a wooden tardis style one in Glasgow (or at least there was a few years ago); hence me questioning if this city had their own cast iron type.
