You get them everywhere, but nothing worse than when they're dealing with the public. Here's a prime example a social retard. He goes by the name of Ian.

EDIT: The Telegraph are now covering the story.

I'd say he needs a smack in the mouth. I've never known such naughtiness.

To be fair most TfL staff I've talked to have been very nice. And I've seen more outrageous things than this in my time.

He's an officious dick and should be sacked.

I suspect he will be.

Under no circumstances is it appropriate to speak to a customer in that way. If he wanted the police involved all he had to do was tell the driver not to move the train and call for one. Instead he resorted to trying to humiliate a pensioner.

You know the Tube workforce went on strike the last time a couple of people were sacked? They were caught stealing (and it was an open and shut case). It went on for ages and was big news here in London. I'm afraid I don't actually know how the story ended though.

I suspect there wasn't a mobile phone video of them doing it

Suspect Boris will have words with TfL bosses and ask for a drumhead trial, otherwise it won't look very good for him.

With 10,000 staff eligible to vote, 2,810 supported strike action with 488 against. The remainder did not vote.
Seems to me that a majority of abstentions should make the call to strike null and void.

Regardless of what happened before the video, the old man is disregarding the requests of trained staff to step away from the platform edge and not to board a train. Why should that be allowed? If a security officer tells you not to board a train, why is it acceptable just to get on regardless?
The pensioner's actions may (or may not) have precipitated the problem, but that doesn't give a member of staff licence to shout, swear and humiliate a customer.

As I said, the staff member needed only to radio for the police and tell the driver not to depart.

He can't resort to self-help.

Also, if the blogger's account of the pre video events is correct, then you might wel not follow the 'orders' of someone who is shouting and swearing at you.

He is not a security officer, he is a customer service assistant. (I read his Facebook)
