I'm sure many in the past have accused those MPs of doing it to merely frustrate the opposition but I would not be so narrow minded as to take that as gospel.
Wiki - The West Lothian Question wrote:The West Lothian Question was first posed on 14 November 1977 by Tam Dalyell, Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for the Scottish constituency of West Lothian, during a British House of Commons debate over Scottish and Welsh devolution (see Scotland Act 1978 and Wales Act 1978):

"For how long will English constituencies and English Honourable members tolerate... at least 119 Honourable Members from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland exercising an important, and probably often decisive, effect on English politics while they themselves have no say in the same matters in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland?"
22 years after the question was posed (and now it is even more relevant post-devolution), its high time it was answered.

Its probably a giant hornet's nest - which is why no one apparently has the hootspa to go near it.

EDIT: I mean "chutzpah" don't I? What a chamoole.

Some people think its just pay back for all the bad ideas etc we had to put up with for 20 years.

Nor, would I expect it to suddenly absolve Scotland of problems. Remind me again which bank it is that has the largest bailout and where is that bank headquartered? Do you honeslty think an English parliament would just grudgingly accept that sort of debt?
er: No, would be the correct answer to the bank question.

with voting for indep.... there are a high number of political experts who are suggesting what I have said, and is also one of the real reason alex want the vote towards the end of next year.

I do believe one Wendy Alexander WAS right to push for an earlier vote, meaning we the public would have a very clear mind what we really want.

You want poorly people to cycle to the hospital? :? What if they don't live near a bus stop or train station?

why not? I see many people doing this.

lets be honset if the majority of people did use the bus or the train, then there would be plenty of space for the few minority who have no choice but to use the car

Well then they'd all get to the hospital promptly because the transport links are excellent!

Aside from outpatients, aren't most of the cars going to and from hospital people visiting those inside?

The clue is the fact at between 4-7pm you can't get a space. During the day its not nearly so bad.

Oh yes - this woke me up as I was drifting off to sleep last night.

1977 was 32 years ago, not 22.

I had a weep when it came to me that I'm so old I lost track of a decade.

Now you ARE phuquing joking, Barcrod.

Look up the Great Western Ambulance statistics on the web. You need a soddin' death certificate to get an ambulance round here, and then it'll be four hours getting to you.

That's after you've waited eight-and-a-half minutes for the 999 control centre to answer.

All personal projects of John Prescott, I might add.
