observant metropollers will have noticed that one of the great four seasons, possibly the greatest of the seasons is on the cusp of realisation, but for now just out of our grip.

i love the colours of autumn, those clear, crisp mornings... not a cloud in the sky but dew kissed cobwebs and grass.

the purpose of this thread is to document this wonderful event.

the rules are simple - the photo must depict something quintessentially autumnal.
you must include where the photo was taken (nothing too specific obviously, county, town or general area will do) and the approximate date it was taken.

here's a couple of snaps to get you started - you can submit as many pictures as you like:

taken 06/09/2009 in sandringham, norfolk

the winner (as judged by a senior officer of metropol) will be bestowed the crown 'metropol autumn daddy' and is destined to be lavished with treasures and prizes beyond their wildest dreams.

good luck!

An extremely good point on the calendar, if I may say so.

I'm not sure these count as "quintessentially" autumnal. But I took them this morning over on Copeland Island.

What's the penalty for palming off good stock photography as our own?
