Defragging a drive does not a faster computer make unless it's heavily fragmented. A defrag will not speed a PC up with 256Mb of memory, you may as well say "my car makes heavy grinding noises" and the solution is fill it up with petrol which isn't going to solve the original problem. Disk Clean-Up doesn't do diddly squat for performance and CCleaner isn't worth the bandwidth it takes to download.fluffy bunny feet wrote:First I'd Defragment the drive
You can also do a disc cleanup there.
Then Install free CCleaner and use it at weekly or whenever you shut down.

i agree that ccleaner won't give you a speed boost, but it's a good utility to run before you perform a defrag or backup because you don't want to be wasting time defragmenting or backing up temporary files and junk in the recycle bin.
